Ohio Motorcyclists For Children

 

Our Mission
Ohio Motorcyclists for Children (OMC) is a non-profit charitable organization. Our purpose is to raise money to support worthy institutions that provide for the medical and emotional welfare of at risk children in Ohio. OMFC also provides support to other motorcycle organizations with similar goals.

 

Our Vision
OMFC will work with interested parties to organize safely designed motorcycle events where participants will have an opportunity for entertainment, adventure, and camaraderie for the purpose of raising charitable contributions to benefit organizations that aid children. In addition to becoming directly involved in the organization of fund-raising events, OMFC will also function as an information resource and clearing house for other motorcycle groups working to benefit children’s organizations.

 

Our Objective
It is the goal of OMC to obtain sponsorship, commercial partnerships, and patronage that will offset all expenses related to event development and promotion, thereby assuring that every penny raised or contributed by participating motorcyclists will go to programs and organizations benefiting children.

Organization and Leadership
Ohio Motorcyclists for Children was founded in 2008 by a group of individuals with long-term experience in the organization of motorcycle events and management of not-for-profit organizations. These include:

Ed Youngblood, Chairman

Ed Youngblood, an active motorcyclist for fifty years, worked for the American Motorcyclist Association for 28 years and served 19 years as its President and CEO. He served for 20 years on the Management Council of the International Motorcycle Federation, based in Geneva, Switzerland, and still holds the title of Honorary Deputy President. He is a member of the Motorcycle Hall of Fame and serves on the boards of several other not-for-profit organizations, including the Antique Motorcycle Club of America Foundation, the Antique Automobile Club of America Museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa. He holds a Master of Arts Degree from Ohio University and has authored six books on American motorcycle history.

 

Patricia DiPietro, Treasurer

Patricia DiPietro is an active motorcyclist and the retired chief Financial officer of the 300,000 member American Motorcyclist Association, where she served for 32 years. In her position as CFO, DiPietro oversaw all financial, accounting budgeting, human resources and facility and informational technology operations. She served as CEO for a year and a half before taking retirement. She has a degree in accounting from Franklin University and is a certified fraud investigator, During here service to the AMA, she was instrumental in the organization of international conferences for women motorcyclists She is a member of the American Society of Associations Executives and a member and volunteer with Citizens for Humane Action, She is currently with Pusateri, Nichols & Company CPAs in Westerville, Ohio.

 

Timothy Owens, Secretary and Counsel

Timothy Owens, an active motorcyclist since his teens, is an attorney with 24 years of experience and substantial involvement in forming or representing charitable and non-profit organizations. These include the Ride to Win Fund, the American Motorcyclist Association, the American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation, Motorcycle Outreach, Inc., the Penton Owners Group, the Capital Area Humane Society, and Goodwill Columbus. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the National Law Center at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He has practiced law since 1984 and is a partner at Lane Alton & Horst, LLC. He has been a Trustee and Chairman of the Capital Area Humane Society, a graduate of Leadership Columbus and the Ohio State Bar Foundation, and a member of the National Eagle Scout Association.

 

Johnny Scales, Director

Johnny Scales, an active motorcyclist since his early 20s, works for the City of Columbus as an Administrator. Prior to his position with the City, Scales managed several regional shopping centers in Columbus and was the Director of Management Services for Miranova. He is a graduate of the Columbus Area Leadership Program and served on the boards of the Simon Kenton Boy Scout Board of Trustees, the Columbus Franklin County News Bureau where he was Secretary, and the City of Hilliard Graphic Commission.

 

Benjamin Dils, Director

Benjamin Dils, a motorcycle enthusiast, is the current online sales manager for American Community Newspapers, where he oversees all online advertising sales for Columbus Monthly, Columbus CEO, the Other Paper, and Suburban newspapers. Ben previously worked as the Marketing and Communications Director for MotorSports of Columbus where he hosted multiple charity rides for Helping Hands Charity, Bikers For Burn Victims, and Earth Angels. His involvement in community service includes the position of board member for My Place To Be, a school for autistic children. He was also selected to appear in “From Here A Century Of Voices”, a dramatic production about Ohio history performed at the Ohio State Fair and Denison University. He was the jounior varsity basketball coach for Bishop Hartley High School and Assistant Football Coach for Granville High School. A graduate of Findlay University with a broadcasting major, Ben was a production assistant for the national television show The Daily Show and a member of the 1995, 1997 division II national football team.

 

Frank Covucci, Director

Frank W. Covucci, III has been a motorcycling enthusiast since 1982, and has since covered more than 300,000 two-wheeled miles. He has served as Senior Director of Special Events, Tours and Road Riding, with the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), where he worked from 1999 to 2008. One of his main responsibilities in this role was to lead the teams that created, promoted, and managed the AMA’s Vintage Motorcycle Days and International Women Motorcycling events. Covucci also supervised the Association’s promotion of independent road riding rallies throughout the United States. His other major role at the Association was to develop and lead it’s domestic and international motorcycle tours and excursions. Prior to serving with the AMA, Frank was a Marketing Director at the New York City based home office of the Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York where he specialized in new product development. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and majored in Marketing. Covucci enjoys life in the Columbus area with his wife, Amy, and their young son, Frankie.

 

Ben Stillman, Director

Ben Stillman is a motorcycling enthusiast actively involved in the Ohio motorcycle scene. He is the owner/founder of Ohio Riders, which in just over three years has built a member base over 3500 motorcyclists. He has over twelve years of experience in the information technology field, and has worked for companies such as Pomeroy Computer Resources, Computer Site Columbus, Columbus State Community College, and currently Franklin University as the MySQL Database Administrator. When he isn’t on a motorcycle or working on the Ohio Riders website, he’s spending time with his wife, Carie, and their two dogs.
